The role of local and global variables in crashes

When a Python application crashes and generates a traceback, the immediate focus is often on the line of code where the exception occurred. However, the root cause of the crash is frequently tied to the state of the application’s memory at that exact moment, specifically the values and scopes of local and global variables. Variables dictate the data flow through your functions, and when they contain unexpected values, are accessed out of order, or are modified incorrectly across different scopes, they trigger
